    Do Indians require a visa for Russia?
    • Yes. Indians need a visa to travel to Russia. Russia visa for Indians can be obtained at the Russian Embassy or Consulate. In order to get visa to Russia from India it is necessary to fulfil the visa requirements and submit the necessary documents, among which is an Invitation to Russia. A Russian Visa for Indians can be private, tourist, business and work – depending on the purpose of a visit.
    How can I obtain an Invitation from Russia?
    • The Invitation letter must be issued by an inviting party. Depending on the purpose and type of Russia visa, it can be issued by a friend or a relative, a tourist company or organization, which is accredited at the Department of Consulate Service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the RF or the Federal Migration Service.
    What are the different types of Russian visas?

    Tourist Visa is required in case you enter Russian Federation for tourism purposes. Tourist visa can be valid for up to 30 days and can be issued for single or double entry. Dates of validity of the visa will correspond with the dates mentioned on your tourist confirmation.

    Business visa is required in case you wish to enter Russia for business purposes. Business visa can be valid for up to 3 months and can be issued for single or double entry. Also, business visa can be issued for multiple entries and can be valid for up to 1 year. All applicants from India wishing to apply for multiple entry visa should obtain direct invitation letter from the inviting company in Russia (INN Letter) or a letter of invitation issued by a Main Directorate for Migration Affairs in Russia. Applicants should also have a single or double Russian visa in the last 1 year, without which they cannot apply for multiple entries. Visa copies need to be provided. Dates of validity of the visa will correspond with mentioned on your letter of invitation issued by a Main Directorate for Migration Affairs in Russia or a telex from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    Private visa is required in case you wish to enter Russian Federation to visit family or friends. Private visa can be valid for up to 3 months and can be issued for single or double entry. Dates of validity of the visa will correspond with the dates mentioned on your private invitation from relatives/friend in Russia.

    Foreign nationals may also be issued with a standard private visa due to the need to enter the Russian Federation because of urgent treatment or following the serious illness or death of a close relative and provided a written confirmation of the neked to provide urgent medical assistance or of the serious illness or the death of a close relative.
